This well known and highly respected designer’s property includes American and English furniture, American and European paintings,
and eclectic decorative arts from Asian objects to silver to fine carpets. Bill was a fine Southern Gentleman
and his objects reflect his exquisite taste and gentle spirit.
Property from the Estate of Haskell Duncan of Aberdeen, North
Carolina. This estate consists primarily of sporting art and a fine library of Amwell signed first edition sporting books. A Steinway
Model A ebonized baby grand piano, George III style banquet table and 12 chairs, as well as a nice collection of silver add to the decorative
arts portion of the sale. Works by T. A. Daly, L. Messa, D. Hagerbaumer, M. Schatz, Roland Clark, Rod Crossman, and C. Reneson are but
a few of the artists being offered.
A fine Tiffany Studios turtle back lamp and numerous lots of
early 20thC art glass come from the Estate of Frederick Rhoads of Balsam, North Carolina. Steuben, Gallé, Daum, Loetz, Durand,
and Webb are all represented in this collection.
We are privileged to be offering 36 works by Frank Stanley Herring
(1893-1966), property of the artist’s family. A native of Pennsylvania, he moved and settled in the South where he is best known
for his compassionate portraits of African Americans. His paintings hang in museums, public buildings, and private collections throughout
the U.S. and several foreign countries. This is a wonderful opportunity to purchase some of this important Southern artist’s favorite
paintings.
The Estate of Ruth P. Phillips of Jacksonville, Florida offers
fine Chinese jades and ceramics, as well as a nice group of Continental furniture, and jewelry. A long time arts patron in the North Florida
area, Mrs. Phillips was well known for her fine taste and flamboyant style. Choice pieces of European furniture, Chinese jade and ceramics
