Description


Alan Reynolds (British, b. 1926), Black, Russet and Grey, oil on board, signed lower right, with label on the back from Redfern Gallery, London, dated July 5th, 1960. Known as a British modernist, Reynolds' work is represented in many public collections including the Museum of Modern Art, New York, and the Tate Gallery, London. Size framed: 28 5/8 in. x 27 in.

Condition


Good condition, minor losses to paint along top edge, the painting is nailed to the backing, there are 3 visible tiny nail heads along the top edge, empty hole (for a nail) top right corner, 1 visible nail head along bottom edge and empty hole (for nail) on the bottom right corner with some missing paint around hole, bottom left corner also with small chip to paint, side edges with no visible nails or holes. The Redfern Gallery label on the back is very fragile and partly coming loose. This painting has been put under a black light and there does not appear to be any restoration or inpainting.
