Two Needlework Samplers, American, First Half 19th C., both on linen, comprising: "Emeline Doremus, Aged 9 Years, Sept. 12 1849", with floral stitched border and central scene of figures in a landscape, together with "Justina Quicks Work made in the tenth year of her age 1837", with central monument having urn to top and initials G.W., trees and cherubs beyond, both framed, not examined out of frames (2 pc.) NOTES: Emeline Doremus, b. Sept. 20, 1840 to David and Marietta (Call) Doremus of Passaic County, New Jersey. Justina Quick was the 2nd wife of Samuel Coles Morris (8/21/1818-7/20/1860), married March 14, 1847, and referenced in 'Genealogical & Memorial History of the State of New Jersey', published 1910.
