Statement: I am a traveler, and my work focuses on connections I forge with subjects I meet as well as the environments I encounter. The majority of my work has been made on three separate bicycle trips across America I rode in 2007, 2008, and 2009, as I attempt to archive experiences from the backroads of the country. This image is of a boy I met in a small Idaho town named Peanut.

Bio: Jake Stangel (b. 1986) studied visual communication at New York University, then promptly drove out West and began making a career as a photographer in Portland, OR. He is also the founder and editor of too much chocolate, an online photography magazine and resource site.
