These photos were made during a two week circumnavigation of Iceland's Ring Road, its only highway. Jökulsarlón is a deep glacial lake at the base of the Breiðamerkurjökull glacier. The lake was formed when the passage to the sea was blocked by land movements in the 20th century. Geologists suggest it could become unblocked in the near future, draining the lake, and making the Ring Road impassable.

Bob O'Connor was born in Boston, Massachusetts where he currently resides. His work has appeared in a variety of publications including The New York Times Magazine, Fast Company, Technology Review, Dwell, and London Telegraph magazines. O'Connor's work has also been shown at The Photographic Resource Center, The Griffin Museum of Photography, and Jen Bekman Gallery. He was named one of “30 Emerging Photographers to Watch” by PDN in 2006 and one of Resource Magazine's "10 Best 10" in 2009.
