My ephemeral interventions are explorations of objects common to our contemporary lives. This work seeks to reexamine and explore the everyday, with hopes of making it new again. In the Domestic Interventions series I am bringing the inside out, taking objects common to any household and making playful compositions with them. Using humor and aesthetics I seek to come to a new understanding of the things we know so well.
Kate Hutchinson was born in New Haven, Connecticut in 1977 and has lived in Montreal, Quebec for most of her life. She has studied photography at Mount Allison University and Dawson College and is currently pursuing her MFA in photography at Concordia University. As well as exhibiting her work Hutchinson teaches photography part time. In October of 2008 she had her first solo show "Why am I Marrying him?" at the Visual Voice Gallery in Montreal.
